Food - Singapore

Rizu, modern French-Japanese fusion cuisine

Rizu is a contemporary Japanese restaurant located on the famous Duxton Hill, a food enclave with doors that would lead to endless dining options. Yet, if you have already been to this beautiful and cosy area of Singapore, you have never seen something as comparable as Rizu.

The restaurant offers an al fresco terrace which takes full advantage of its Singapore’s warm weather. For a more intimate and romantic moment, I would recommend you to enjoy your dinner on the inside; softened lights, Fornasetti’s work of art on the wall, each detail has been thought to make you enjoy a privilege moment, one that you will never forget…

At Rizu, the chef proposes a bar menu that you can be served at counter, alfresco and as an add-on to the Omakase menu. A variety of excellent dishes are offered such as the crab risotto, the deer carpaccio or the Thai eggplant.

Besides à la carte, Rizu proposes two degustation menus, the Chef’s Omakase and the Plant Based Omakase with which you can add the Wine and Sake pairing. I went for the Chef’s Omakase and added the drinks pairing. I don’t know if I am the only one, but each time I am discovering a new restaurant, I am always trying to imagine the taste of the dishes before going. But this time, trust me, it would have never been possible to me to have a clear picture of the reality… There is only one world that directly comes to my mind when I need to describe my dinner at Rizu: a dream…

As disparate as they seem, the dishes are held together by the common thread of quality produced and something as simple as a mussel becomes a delightful treat when combined with bell pepper broth, chestnut and tomyum oil. The chef perfectly knows how to cook some of the finest delicacies of our world, such as caviar, wagyu beef or sea urchin… Throughout the eight courses of the Menu, he managed to surprise and amaze our taste buds with his creativity and his perfect blend of flavours. To me the dessert was the most interesting course, creating a Dorayaki with French lentils and vanilla… What a delight that is! If only I could make you taste it throuht the screen of my computer… If I had to choose only one dessert for the rest of my life, that would surely be that Dorayaki.
The choice of wines and sakes for the pairing was as remarkable and surprising as the one of the courses!

My dinner at Rizu was far beyond everything I could have imagine, the service was impeccable, and the quality of the cuisine was fantastic… I can only recommend everyone that is in Singapore to make a reservation at Rizu!
