If you are as in love with bagels as I am, actually even if you are not, you should put you sneakers because you might want to run to this bakery right after reading my article!
It is located in Shoreditch, which is known to be the most hipster and cool neighborhood of London. After having strolled in the vintage stores and before doing a bargain in the street markets you will surely need and want to grab a bite and I know that there are so many places to eat and it is thus truly hard to make a choice. There are restaurants of thousand different nationalities all there to satisfy the volatile taste of the urban tribe but the one I am talking about stands out of the crowd.
First of all, I need to admit that I lied to you as I am not going to write about a restaurant but about a bakery. It is one of the perk of this place as it will allow you to eat while continuing your shopping or walking around to admire the street art and graffiti.
This institution is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is situated in Brick Lane. They are serving pastries and hot bagels since 1974, the most iconic one is the Salt beef mustard bagel and it is my favorite. This sandwich truly is a culinary orgasm!
Every goods are made in the traditional Jewish style and the prices are insanely low, count less than £1 for a sweet treat and between £1.50 to £4.50 for a bagel. Do not be discouraged by the queue as so many people want to try the specialties but the service is particularly quick so you will not have to wait for too long.
I highly recommend you the Salt Beef Bagel, which costs £4.10 and which I love to nickname the monster because it is enormous. The sandwich is filled with salt beef obviously, pickles and mustard but if you are not a fan you can ask to take off the accompaniments.
The taste is pretty briny due to the salt but not too much. The meat is really tender with an ideal meat to fat ratio. I am not a pickle person in general yet for me it is better to ask for the complete sandwich as the mix of all the flavor is so interesting and I think that each ingredient has its importance to create a harmonious taste.
By the way, if you are not a meet lover you can ask for a cream salmon bagel, I personally never tried it but some of my friends did and they all agree to say that it is also a generous and tasty choice. I do not think you can go wrong with this classic combination.
Bagel Bake became a hot-spot in London for a quick lunch or a snack at any time of the day so drop by and try it for yourself!
Best place ever! Thanks for your recommendation, will be very usefull for other people.
